GREENSBORO – Nannie Mae Riggins, 80, passed away June 23, 2021 at Beacon Place.

She was born in Guilford County on April 13, 1941 to Benjamin Bennett and Bessie Smith Bennett.

Ms. Nannie was a faithful member of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church.

For the majority of her life, she worked in housekeeping in the hotel industry.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Riggins; brothers, Robert Bennett, James Bennett and Bennie Bennett; sisters, Jo Leather Caver, Ruth Bennett, Ruby Anderson and Bernice Bennett.

Survivors include children, Loretta Bennett, Bernadett Riggins and Anthony Bennett (Denise); sister, Amanda Bennett; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a host of relatives and friends.

Public viewing will begin on Thursday, July 1, 2021 from 12 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Serenity Funeral Home, 1024 Homeland Avenue, Greensboro, NC.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 2, 2021 at Bethel A.M.E. Church, 200 N. Regan Street, Greensboro, NC.  The family visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m.  Rev. Kim Foster will deliver the words of comfort.

Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3901 Forest Lawn Drive, Greensboro, NC.

Loretta and family. I know that you knew this day was coming, but that does not ease the pain of losing your mom. She is definitely in the presence of the Lord and in no more pain! She will be missed. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

We want to give you our condolences for your loss. My aunt Nannie Mae was a wonderful aunt and she will be missed. We will be praying for God's strength and comfort during this time of bereavement.
