GREENSBORO – Annie Mae Palmer Macon, 72, passed away September 27, 2020 at Beacon Place.

She was born in Warrenton, NC (Warren County) on July 25, 1948 to the late Robert Palmer and the late Rosanna Williams Palmer.

She retired as mail carrier with the U.S. Postal Service after many years of service.  She was also formerly employed as a bus driver and worked in skilled nursing facilities.  In her spare time, she enjoyed fixing nails.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her spouse, James Walter Macon; son, Rene Macon; brothers, William Palmer, Freddie Palmer, Ernest Palmer, James Palmer and Robert Palmer, Jr.; sister, Justine Palmer.

Survivors include her loving children, Angela Gregory (Kenyon), Ray Macon (fiancé Janelle Crumpler) and Julian Macon; longtime friend, Julius Smith; brother, Henry Palmer (fiancé Joanne Brown); sister, Faye Palmer Moore; grandchildren, Shamara Dixon (Omar), Terrance Macon, Brianna Macon, Darren Clark, Danielle Clark, Victoria Wise, Danielle Capers, Raven Macon, Rayelle Macon, Janique Macon, Brielle Peters, Amyill Macon, Azmir Macon and Myiah MacDonald; 10 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Public viewing will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2020 from 12 noon until 5:00 p.m. at Serenity Funeral Home, 1024 Homeland Avenue, Greensboro, NC.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 2, 2020 at New Light Missionary Baptist Church, 1105 Willow Road, Greensboro, NC.  The family visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m.  Minister James Clark will deliver the eulogy.

Interment will follow in Lakeview Memorial Park, 3600 N. O’Henry Blvd., Greensboro, NC.
