GREENSBORO – Sharon Laverne Bailey Carpenter, 65, passed away September 27, 2020 at Moses Cone Hospital.

She was born in Guilford County, NC on August 27, 1955 to the late James Ira Bailey and the late Loraine Owens Bailey.

She was a bus driver for many years with the Guilford County Schools (NC) and Dekalb County Schools (GA).

In her spare time, she loved fishing, football, basketball and bowling.

Survivors include siblings, Edward Bailey, Veronica Jones, Marva McBroom (Haywood), Ardale Gant, Robin Patterson, Gerrard Bailey, Reginald Bailey, Chris Bailey, James Bailey (Sheila), Michelle Peck (Randall), Sharyl Mason (Dennis), Jeffrey Bailey (Rebecca) and Stephen Bailey (Jane); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Public viewing will begin on Friday, October 2, 2020 from 12 noon until 5:00 p.m. at Serenity Funeral Home, 1024 Homeland Avenue, Greensboro, NC.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 3, 2020 at New Light Missionary Baptist Church, 1105 Willow Road, Greensboro, NC.  The family visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m.  Pastor John Pooler, III, from East Market Street Seventh-day Adventist Church will deliver the eulogy.

Sharon was the absolute BEST aunt. She taught me so much. She was always supportive of me through my youth and adulthood. She will be sorely missed. We are forever grateful for all she gave to our family.
