GREENSBORO – Willie D. Mayhand, 92, passed away March 3, 2020 at Wesley Long Hospital.

He was born in Perry County, Alabama on August 21, 1927 to Will and Emma Mayhand.

He worked in the Textiles Industry as a Machine Overhauler and was a carpenter by trade.  In his spare time, he also enjoyed bowling.

Survivors include his loving wife, Corrine Mayhand; son, Willie Nathaniel Mayhand; daughters, Patricia Ann Murphy, Linda Faye Mayhand, Judy Carol Mayhand-Howard (John), Coradene Rutledge (Nathaniel) and Coraetta Mayhand; grandchildren, Joy Neal (Alfonza), Clarissa Murphy, Lawrence Bethea (Diane), Trina Mayhand-Goings, Myra Mayhand, Shamel Fitzgerald (Demeka), Elizabeth Mayhand, Christina Mayhand, Nathan Mayhand, Alicia Mayhand, Martin Mayhand and William Mayhand; 13 great-grandchildren; a host of relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Felicia Yvette Moore; grandson, Malik Mayhand; brothers, Jimmy Mayhand, Bennie Mayhand, George Mayhand and Thomas Mayhand; sister, Ethel Mayhand.

A celebration of life will be held 12 noon, Monday, March 9, 2020 at St. Stephen United Church of Christ, 1000 Gorrell Street, Greensboro, NC.  The family visitation will begin at 11:30 a.m.  Interment will follow in Carolina Biblical Gardens, 5710 Riverdale Drive, Jamestown, NC.

At the family’s request, public viewing will only be held Monday at the church.
