Sherida Renee McKinnon

HIGH POINT - Sherida Renee McKinnon, 57, peacefully transitioned into the loving arms of her Lord on Monday, January 16, 2023 at High Point Medical Center.

A private ceremony to celebrate the life of Sherida will be held.

Sherida was a former resident of Newark, N.J., and Greensboro, N.C. Sherida was born on March 4, 1965 as the eldest child of Rayde and Marian E. McKinnon.

As a small child she was born with physical difficulties, but Sherida’s tenacity and love of life enabled her to successfully overcome them and thrive. She was an outstanding student and attended Weequahic High School in Newark, N.J., and ended her education at Walter Hines Page High School in Greensboro, N.C.

At the end of her high school education, she became a long-term employee with a restaurant affiliated to Yum Brands Inc. She was regrettably forced to medically retire in 2004. Sherida loved to shop, relax and listening to music in the company of family and friends.

Sherida was preceded in her transition by her father Rayde; mother Marian and aunt Ruby Austin.

She leaves behind her siblings; Mr. and Mrs. Terrace T. McKinnon of Greensboro, N.C. and Mr. and Mrs. Reginald D. McKinnon of Matsubara, Osaka Japan. She also is survived by 1 nephew and 5 nieces. Included in her survivors are 2 aunts; Eldress Marjorie Edwards and Frances McKinnon; 2 uncles Charles and Donald McKinnon; 3 generations of cousins; a host of friends including a friend Sherida considered the sister she always wanted Miss Marion Whitsett.
