Obituary
GREENSBORO – Ryan Elye’s Shaw, 20, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2022.
Public viewing will begin Monday, August 8, 2022 from 12 until 6 p.m. at Serenity Funeral Home, 1024 Homeland Avenue, Greensboro, NC.
A celebration of life service will be held Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at 3 p.m. at New Light Missionary Baptist Church, 1105 Willow Road, Greensboro, NC. The family visitation and viewing will begin 2:30 p.m.
He was born in Guilford County on December 16, 2001 to Rachel Shaw and Demetre’e Ptomey.
Ryan was gifted in sports and loved boxing. At one point he played football and ran track at Smith High School, Ragsdale High School and Dudley High School before graduating in 2020.
At a young age, he was baptized at Triad Baptist Church.
Currently, he was a cook at Wingstop in Greensboro and formerly worked as a manager at the Burlington location.
Survivors include his mother, Rachel Shaw (Charles Washington II); father, Demetre’e Ptomey; sister, Riley Shaw-Washington; step-brother, Shy’emere Washington; maternal grandfather, James Shaw; maternal grandmother, French Shaw; paternal grandmother, Lisa Jefferson; paternal step-grandfather, David Jefferson; aunts, Marsheena Shaw, Ivy Shaw, Carmel Shaw and Deja Jefferson; uncles, Preston Graves and David Jefferson; a host of relatives and friends.
