Ronald Capreol Obituary

Ronald Douglas Capreol, currently of Greensboro, NC, passed away on August 2nd, 2025. He was born in Mineola, New York on September 19,1951, to Edward (Ted) and Shirley Capreol,
formerly of Ottawa, Canada. He was the second of six children and was raised in Garden City, New York.

He was a dedicated Boy Scout, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout and frequently reminisced about his summer Scout trips to the Philmont Ranch. He played Varsity Football at Garden City High School, and upon graduation in 1969, attended Adelphi University in Garden City from 1969 -1970 and then went on to North Carolina State University where in 1973, he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Textile Engineering.

He had a long and successful textile career moving from Product Design to Sales. This led to several opportunities, including a six-year stint in Southern California. While Ron embraced the California lifestyle, he was eventually promoted with a management position back to New York.

Ron also enjoyed many summer memories at Red Pine Camp on Golden Lake in Ontario, Canada where he loved being with his Canadian cousins, Margie, Wendy & Bruce. He also took pleasure in visiting them in the years that followed while on his yearly fishing trips.

An avid freshwater fisherman, Ron loved the Adirondack Mountains, and especially those annual and sometimes semiannual trips to Canada, first with friends and later with his wife Diana.

Ron was a passionate football fan and a devoted birdwatcher, determined to identify every bird he encountered. He also had a unique obsession with his calendar—he made sure that every single day of the year featured the birthday of someone he knew!

Ron will always be remembered for his jovial personality and infectious laughter. He accrued many, many friends throughout his life and kept up with them regularly. Ron was the "life of the party" and a sincere friend forever. His best friend since kindergarten Geoff Hanff (Laura) was a truly loving and loyal friend who was also by his side to say goodbye.

He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Diana; siblings, Diane Megahan (Brad), Sharon Clay (David), Gary Capreol (Kate), Bob Capreol (Ashley), much loved nephew, Gordon (Precious), along with four nieces and five nephews as well as five great nephews, four great nieces and one great great nephew. He was predeceased by his brother David Capreol.

There will be a private family "celebration" of Ron's life in Lake George, NY at a future date. In lieu of flowers please send donations in Ron's name to either the American Heart Association or the Greensboro, NC ASPCA. We, the Capreol family, thank you for remembering Ron and keeping us in your thoughts and prayers.
