Reece Sowells Obituary

GREENSBORO – Reece Sowells, 95, passed away Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at Greenhaven Health & Rehabilitation.


He was a native of Lamar, SC and was born on May 2, 1926 to Limas Sowells and Sally McClain. 


He was a self-employed truck driver for many years and was a 33rd Degree Mason.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Taylor Sowells; daughter, Susan Wiggins; son, Robert Reece Sowers.


Survivors include daughters, Jo Leatha Marine, Cynthia Sowers, Joyce Hopkins, Evelyn Sowells-Boone and Nettie Zekila; sons, Maurice Sowers, Ear Anderson and Mireece Sowells; grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.


Public viewing will begin on Friday, October 15, 2021 from 10 until 12 p.m. at Serenity Funeral Home, 1024 Homeland Avenue, Greensboro, NC.


A graveside service will follow at 1 p.m. in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3901 Forest Lawn Drive, Greensboro, NC.
