GREENSBORO - Mr. Rachon Terrell Fuller, 67, departed this earthly home on Monday, October 10, 2023 at Moses Cone Hospital.
A celebration of life service will be held Friday, October 13, 2023 at 2 p.m. at New Light Missionary Baptist Church, 1105 Willow Road, Greensboro, NC.
“Ray” and “Tebby,” as he was affectionately known, was born on November 5, 1955, in Greensboro, North Carolina to Betty Jean Fuller and Elworth E. Smith, Jr.
He was educated in the Guilford County public school system and was a standout athlete throughout his educational life. Rachon played football, basketball, and ran track, and lettered in all. In high school, he played in the Shrine Bowl of 1973, where he set a long-time, unbeatable record. He also played and excelled in the East/West football games and was named a Prep All-American in 1973-1974. Rachon went on to play at North Carolina Agricultural &Technical State University. Anything sports, especially golf, was where you could find him and what he would talk about endlessly! He was truly a “lover” of all sports!
After leaving A&T, Rachon enlisted in the United States Marines. Following his military service, Rachon worked and excelled as a Car Salesman for many, many years. It was his tall statue and his warm smile that swayed his customers.
Rachon was preceded in death by his parents, Betty F. Young and Elworth E. Smith, Jr.; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Fuller, Jr., uncles, Levornia B. Fuller and Waymon Randolph Fuller, and aunt, Hazel Fuller Belcher.
Rachon leaves to cherish his memory, his sister, Rachel Young Alston (Greg), brother, Christopher Michael Young, daughters, Erica Fuller Foster (Ben), Ebony Monique Collins, and Tiffany Franklin; sons, Terrance Rachon Phelps and Nicholas Gregory Neely, grandchildren, Kieran “Keke”, Tanasiah “Naynay,” Jianna Phelps, Kennedy and Kameron Foster, and Carlee Bennett, who will sorely miss him. Rachon also leaves his uncle, Louis A. Fuller, and cousin/brother and cousin/sister, Shawn L. Belcher (Darla) and Natalie L. Belcher, as well as a host of cousins, special friends, nieces, and nephews.
