Patricia Ann (Mann) Wright

Patricia Ann Wright, 74, of Goodview, was called home on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at Kindred Hospital in Greensboro, NC after a grueling five and half months battle for her life.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Curtis Wright; her parents, Dorothy and Leo Mann; two brothers, Billy and Lee; two sisters, Tweetsy and Shirley.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Angela (Patrick) Wright; her son, Jeremy (Laura) Wright;

Nana’s babies, Alena, Maddie, Peyton, Lennon, Cecilia and Blayne; three sisters, Margie (Wendell) Cox, Betty (Edward) Payne, Kitty (Melvin) Simmons; two sisters-in-law, Kathy Wright, Wanda (Jan) Arrington; very special family, Barry Mays and Randy Mays; her best friend of 40+ years, Connie Mays and several nieces and nephews.

Pat retired from Big Lots after working 27 years.  She loved working there and meeting so many special customers.  It was often joked that she was the “unofficial mayor of Vinton” because so many people recognized her.  She couldn’t go anywhere without someone knowing her.  As much as she loved working, she loved retirement even more.  She always had some project or home improvement job she was working on.  Her family thought of her as their “lil hummingbird” never sitting still, was always flitting about the house and loved to stay busy.

Her favorite thing to do was crocheting.  She could make anything, anyone wanted.  Pat always had a new pattern for some critter that she was working on. She gave most of these away, just to brighten someone else’s day even making bunnies for the nurses at Blue Ridge Cancer Center.

Pat had a special way of connecting to people.  She always put everyone else before herself, in everything.  She had so many talents but was so humble she never saw them.  

She touched so many lives and was such a beacon of light to so many.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 22, 2024 from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm in the Oakey’s Vinton Chapel.  A funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at 2:00 PM in the Goodview Baptist Church with Pastor Joey Phillips officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
