GREENSBORO – Maurice "Cowboy" Elliott Echols, 87, passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at Adams Farm Health and Rehab.
Public viewing will begin on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 from 2 until 5 p.m. at Serenity Funeral Home, 1024 Homeland Avenue, Greensboro, NC.
A celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at 1 p.m. at New Light Missionary Baptist Church, 1105 Willow Road, Greensboro, NC. The family visitation and viewing will begin at 12:30 p.m. Reverend Dr. Cardes H. Brown, Jr. will deliver the words of comfort.
He was born in Guilford County, NC on April 10, 1934 to Percy G. Echols, Sr., and Jessie Snipes Echols.
For many years he worked for the City of Greensboro as well as JP Stevens. In his spare time, he loved taking senior trips.
He was a member of New Jerusalem Cathedral for many years. Most recently, he attended Genesis Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Percy G. Echols, Jr., Bobby Lee Echols, Clyde M. Echols, Willie Roosevelt Echols, Michael A. Echols and Vaughn D. Echols; foster brothers, Floyd Allred and Thaddeus Allred.
Survivors include children, Maurice N. Echols and Marita C. Echols; special friend, Willie Womack; brother, Fred D. Echols (Hazel); sisters, Vivian A. Hill, Wanda E. Benton, Beverly E. Williams (Barry), Shelia R. Smith and Everlean S. Foxx; sisters-in-law, Barbara Echols and Shirley Echols; a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
