GREENSBORO – Maebell Kearse Wright, 88, passed away Friday, September 24, 2021 at Hospice of the Piedmont in High Point, NC.
She was a native of Hampton County, SC and was born on August 14, 1933 to Henry Williams and Albertha Kearse.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family and cooking especially making pies. In her spare time, she loved fishing and traveling.
She was a member of St. Phillip A.M.E. Zion Church where she served as a missionary, ladies auxiliary and the senior club. She was also a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a spouse, Timothy Wright; daughter, Catherine Woods; brother, Asbury Williams; brothers-in-law, Daniel Platts, Rayfield Williams, Sr., and John Lee.
Survivors include daughters, Juanita Wright and Lila Womack; brother, Henry Williams, Jr. (Patricia); sisters, Lucinda Platts, Dollie Williams, Lena Lee, Brindia Bryant, Linda Williams, Carolyn Williams and Minnie Williams; 6 grandchildren, Pharoah Wright, Christopher Wright, Atiba Wright, Ricky Womack, Richard Woods and Torie Womack; 17 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A public viewing will be held on Friday from 12 until 6 p.m. at Serenity Funeral Home, 1024 Homeland Avenue, Greensboro, NC.
A celebration of life service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at St. Phillip A.M.E. Zion Church, 1330 Ashe Street, Greensboro, NC. The viewing and family visitation will begin at 10 a.m.
Interment will follow in Carolina Biblical Gardens of Guilford, Jamestown, NC.
