BROWNS SUMMIT – Larry Wayne Brown, 74, passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at his residence.
He was born in Guilford County, NC on January 8, 1947 to Robert Harrison Brown and Callie Leona Wheeler Brown.
He served his country faithfully stationed in Vietnam for 3 years before being honorably discharged from the US Army.
For many years he worked at Kmart Distribution as a forklift driver.
Larry was very sociable and in his spare time, he loved traveling to the beach, playing poker and watching westerns. He was also very caring to his daughters.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeff Vernon Jr.; sisters, Barbara Purgason (Ronnie) and Peggy McCandless (Howard); brothers-in-law, Homer Haithcock and Boyce Carroll; special friend, Gladys Cox.
Survivors include loving daughters, Lori Sutphin (John), Tammy Vernon and Patricia Lawson; mother of his children, Barbara Jenkins; sisters, Doris Brown (Harvey), Becky Carroll, Dean Haithcock and Minnie Lunsford (Sonny); grandchildren, Courtney Lawson, John Sutphin Jr. (Mattie), Christopher Sutphin (Autumn), Heather, Crymes (Cameron) and Kendall Vernon; great-grandchildren, Sasha Sutphin, Dallas Crymes, Ariella Guase and Carson Crymes; a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 25, 2021 at 1 p.m. from the Johnson Baptist Church, 5601 Turner Smith Road, Browns Summit, NC. The family visitation and public viewing will begin at 12:30 p.m. Reverend Larry Andrews will deliver the words of comfort.
Interment will follow in Lakeview Memorial Park, Greensboro, NC.
