Joel Karlgene Graves

GREENSBORO – Joel Karlgene Graves, 74, passed away April 27, 2023 at Beacon Place.

A celebration of life service will be held Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at 1 p.m. at Laughlin Memorial United Methodist Church, 1417 Huffine Mill Road, Greensboro, NC. The family visitation and viewing will begin at 12:30 p.m.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Public viewing will begin on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 from 12 until 6 p.m. at Serenity Funeral Home, 1024 Homeland Avenue, Greensboro, NC.

He was born in Guilford County, NC on February 26, 1949 to Claudine Troxler Bright.

Joel was a member of Laughlin Memorial UMC and loved the Lord and his family.

Joel was an avid cook and loved to bake. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing the guitar and traveling to the beach. He loved football and was a Pittsburg Steelers fan.

Survivors include children, Carlton Graves, Opal Best and Lakeita Graves; 5 grandchildren, Paris, Satchel, Mohnye, Jaron and Trinity; 1 great-grandchild, Braylon; a host of relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Scarlett Hewes Graves.
