Ida “Missy” Lou (Hampton) White

GREENSBORO - Ida Lou Hampton White, 81, passed away March 7, 2023 at Guilford Health Care Center.

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, March 18, 2023 at 12 p.m. at New Light Missionary Baptist Church, 1105 Willow Road, Greensboro, NC. The family visitation will begin at 11:30 a.m. Reverend Dr. Cardes H. Brown, Jr., will deliver the words of comfort.

Public viewing will begin on Friday, March 17, 2023 from 12 until 5 p.m. at Serenity Funeral Home, 1024 Homeland Avenue, Greensboro, NC.

Mrs. Ida was born in Sumter, South Carolina on July 21, 1941 to Emmanuel Hampton and Eva Peterson Hampton.

For many years she lived in Bronx, New York and was a member of New Tabernacle Baptist Church, and Emmanuel Baptist Church where she served as an usher and missionary.

After relocating to North Carolina, she became a member of New Light Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include sons, Deacon Melvin Gass, Jr. (Rev. Beverly), and Michael Gass; grandchildren, Melvin Gass, III (Taisha’ne) and Tyler Brianna Gass (fiancé Ebony); great-grandchild, Melvin Baxter Gass, IV; a host of relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Elizabeth Hampton Tudor and Carolina Hampton.
