GREENSBORO – Edward Charlie Garner, Jr., 71, passed away Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at his residence.
He was born on September 10, 1950 in Garysburg, NC to Edward Garner, Sr., and Lottie Vincent Garner.
After graduating from Gumberry High School in 1968, he received a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Biology from North Carolina A&T State University. He also, received a Master’s Degree in Environmental Science from University of South Carolina.
He served his country faithfully and was honorably discharged as a Captain from the United States Army.
He was a member of New Light Missionary Baptist Church. In his spare time, he loved attending Aggie Football games.
Survivors include spouse, Wilhelmenia Oconnor Garner; daughters, Angela Garner and Pamela Dorsey; grandchild, Joseph Dorsey; a host of relatives and friends.
Public viewing will begin on Sunday from 1 until 5 p.m. at Serenity Funeral Home, 1024 Homeland Avenue, Greensboro, NC.
A celebration of life service will be held on Monday, December 20, 2021 at 1 p.m. at New Light Missionary Baptist Church, 1105 Willow Road, Greensboro, NC. The family visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. Pastor, Reverend Dr. Cardes H. Brown Jr., will deliver the words of comfort.
Interment will be held on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at 12 p.m. in the Garner’s Family Cemetery, Garysburg, NC.
