Delores was educated in the public schools system in Dillon, SC. In her younger years she loved to spend her days traveling from Greensboro, NC to Dillon, SC. “Tunk” enjoyed cooking and feeding her family and friends. Her specialty was her famous fried chicken, fish and greens. Spending that time together while feasting on her delicious meals meant so much to her. She was known to talk a little junk to all of us, but that was her little way of showing her love. To know “Tunk” was to love her because she was a mother, aunt, sister, cousin and friend to each of us. Her presence will always be felt no matter where we are.

Delores was preceded in death by her mother, Nellie Bell Oates Austin; her father, Albert Mearite; her brother, Ulister Jr. (Wop).

Delores leaves to cherish her memories, three brothers, Octavius Parker of Greensboro, NC, Trouble Parker of Clinton, NC, and Sandy Oates, Jr. of Kansas City, MO; her sister, Benice Carter (Ron) of Clinton, NC; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

”Tunk” had an incredibly special aunt, Linda Austin (Sofie)  and cousins, Chico, Butta and Bay. She loved them dearly and where she spent most of her time.
