Deidre Lynise Withers-Smith

Deidre Lynise Withers-Smith was born on July 14, 1963, in Washington, DC. She peacefully departed her life on August 9, 2023.

Deidre was raised in Washington, DC, where she attended her early childhood school years. After relocating to Northern Virginia, she graduated from Woodbridge Senior High School and attended college in Anchorage, Alaska. Deidre enjoyed learning and treasured the opportunities of working with others. She was very career oriented and retired from the Federal Government. She later took a position that relocated her and the family to Greensboro, NC. Where she enjoyed retirement and working in her garden. 

Deidre believed strongly in family ties. She was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. The life of Deidre will be cherished and loved by everyone who was blessed to know her.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents: James and Lucille Adams, Lawson and Mamie Withers. She leaves to cherish her memories: mother, Jean A. Taylor (Robert) sister, Tracie L. Withers; daughter; Ashley Nicole Smith; granddaughters, Ariana Nevaeh Smith Barnes, Ashlyn Monee Williams; grandson, Ashton Merrell Williams; Uncles; Albert Wayne Withers and John L. Nash, Sr. (Gwen) and a host of cousins, family members and friends.

The family of Deidre Lynise Withers-Smith would like to express our sincere appreciation and thanks for the many expressions of love, prayers, cards, visits and other acts of kindness shown during the time of bereavement. May God always bless and enrich your lives with love and friendships as much as you have enriched us.

A celebration of life service will be held Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at 12 p.m. in the chapel of Serenity Funeral Home, 1024 Homeland Avenue, Greensboro, NC.
