Obituary

Darrin Lamont Dennis, 40, passed away July 3, 2023.

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, July 15, 2023 at 2:30 p.m.; visitation 2 p.m. at New Light Missionary Baptist Church, 1105 Willow Road, Greensboro, NC.

Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Cemetery.

Darrin was born on January 4, 1983, in Greensboro, North Carolina to his parents, Deacon Samuel Jerome Dennis, Sr. and Pastor Mary Lizzie Dennis.

He attended Guilford County public schools and received his GED in an alternative program. He also earned a certification in arts. Darrin had a long history of skills from crafting, painting, and carpentry.

In his early years he sang in the choir and ushered at Power House of Deliverance. He was very sociable and enjoyed playing football, baseball and going fishing. Darrin was simply a Jack of all trades. He spent a lot of time with his family whom he loved dearly.

Darrin was preceded in death by his grandmother, Josephine Dennis; grandfathers, Doger Jones and John Willie Mearite, and aunt, Dorothy Grier.

In addition to his parents, he leaves to cherish his memories, his daughter, Ayonna Natieya Brooks; brothers, Samuel Dennis, Jr. (Latonya) and Willie Eugene Dennis; grandchildren, Ariyah Denise Brooks and Armias Kyree Brooks, grandfather, Clavis Archie; grandmother, Lizzie Mae Jones Mearite; uncles, Jasper Donnell Jr., Michael Kelley, Tyrone Marshall, Charles Grier, Theron McCray, Jerry Neal and Dunkin McCray; aunts, Patricia
 McCray, Winnie Donnell, Joann Marshall and Cheryl Valentine (Eddie); great uncles, Fred Scott (Mary Ruth) and Ronnie Bethea of Dillon, SC; great aunts, Dorothy Covington and Denise McRae (Alexander), both of Dillon, SC; special cousins, Latoya Jones and Gentry Crawford; special Friends, “AP” and Daniel Tutt; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
