Daniel Murphy

GREENSBORO – Daniel Murphy, 84, passed away Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at Moses Cone Hospital.

He was born on May 7, 1937 in Winnsboro, SC to the late Robert Murphy and Elizabeth Young Murphy.

He was married to the late Hortense J. Murphy.

For many years, he was employed with Blythe Construction.  Mr. Murphy loved landscaping, wrestling and NASCAR.  Everyone loved him and visited him daily.

In addition to his spouse and parents, he was preceded in death by sons, Coley Glenn and Larry Glenn; siblings, Robert Murphy, Jr., James Murphy, Edward Murphy, Elizabeth Simmons, LillyRay Evans, EllaLou Gaither and MaeCatherine Saunders.

Survivors include daughters, Dianne Murphy, Danette Murphy and Gail Taylor; brother, Willie Lewis Murphy; sister, IdaMae Johnson; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren; a host of relatives and friends.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at 2 p.m. from the New Light Missionary Baptist Church, 1105 Willow Road, Greensboro, NC.  The public viewing and family visitation will only be held 30 minutes prior to the service.  Reverend Dr. Cardes H. Brown, Jr. will deliver the words of comfort.

Interment will be held at a later date in Guilford Memorial Park.
