Claire Haskins Obituary

GREENSBORO - Claire Rollwage Haskins, 72, of Greensboro, North Carolina, passed away at The Elms Memory Care facility on April 8, 2026. She was a beloved wife, sister and friend. She grew up in Lake Jackson, Texas as one of three daughters of William and Laura Rollwage. It was there that she developed a life long love of reading, music, and folk dancing. She played flute, recorder, piano, and guitar. She was a member of the University of Texas (UT) marching band, the Greensboro Concert Band, and formal and informal performing groups. After receiving her degree in Pharmacy under the influence of her grandmother, Madeline, she worked in Ft. Worth, TX and New Orleans, LA, before taking a break to earn her MBA from UT. After deciding the corporate life was not a best fit, she returned to Pharmacy and worked for the Cone Hospital system in Greensboro, having good memories of NC from a previous summer spent at Blue Ridge Assembly in the NC mountains. Before coming to NC she traveled to Europe, the USSR, and South Africa, and continued to travel later in life.  It was in Switzerland she spent time and developed life long friends at l’Abri community. After arriving in NC, she became a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. She participated in and taught in both Sunday school and Bible Study Fellowship. Later in life she enjoyed gardening, continuing education provided by the GTCC Culinary program and the Shepherd’s Center.  She is survived by her husband Alan, sisters Susan (Barry Engel) and Janet (Troy Herber), and the extended Rollwage, Lawler, and Haskins family clans. A memorial service will be held at 10 am May 2, 2026 in the chapel at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Greensboro. Donations in her memory may be made to CureBlindness.org, the FistulaFoundation.org, your public radio station, and to the very special people that care for those facing memory challenges.
