GREENSBORO - Barbara Jean Long Hailey, 78, passed away November 12, 2022 at Wesley Long Hospital.

A celebration of life service will be held Thursday, November 17, 2022 at 1 p.m. at New Light Missionary Baptist Church, 1105 Willow Road. The family visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. Pastor, Reverend Dr. Cardes H. Brown, Jr. will deliver the words of comfort.

Entombment will follow in Lakeview Memorial Park, 3600 N. O’Henry Blvd., Greensboro, NC.

Public viewing will begin Wednesday, November 16, 2022 from 3 until 6 p.m. at Serenity Funeral Home, 1024 Homeland Avenue.

She was born on July 9, 1944 in Jonesville, SC to Anderson Long and Lillian Prysock Long.

Barbara was educated in the Union County Schools (SC) and graduated from Sims High School class of 1963.

She professed her faith in Christ and was an active member of New Light Missionary Baptist Church for over 30 years.

For many years, she worked as a caregiver with Home Instead.

In her spare time, she enjoyed crafting and was great at making baskets and wreaths. She was very excited about sharing her gift at The Flea. She also loved dancing where she was a line dancer for Smooth Groove. She was also excellent with floral arrangements. Barbara was a very classy lady and loved shopping.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hailey, Sr.; daughter, Regina Carthens; brother, Lawerance Long.

Survivors include devoted children, Tyra Hailey Sides (Adrian), Robert Hailey, Jr. and Sonya Jones (Shep); adorable grandchildren, Shomari Hailey, Shamir Hailey, Ebony Carthens and Deondra Jones; loving siblings; Elwillie McAdoo, Roosevelt Long, Sr. (Hattie) and Anderson Long, Jr.; caring godchildren, Valarie Whitaker Clemons and Tony Ray; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
