GREENSBORO – Kathy Lavern Cummings Jenkins, 63, passed away peacefully at her home on August 12, 2020.

She was born on August 23, 1956 to Tommy Hilleman and the late Corine Brice Cummings Morrison in Guilford County, NC.

Kathy was educated in the Guilford County Schools, graduating from James B. Dudley High School.

In September 2019, she retired from Elastic Fabric after 36 years.

She was a very giving person always buying and giving to others, and she loved playing the lottery.

In 1995, she married Joe Jenkins.

In addition to her mother, Corine Brice Cummings, she was preceded in death by seven brothers and two sisters.

Left to cherish precious memories are husband, Joe Jenkins; sisters, Shirley Henryhand, Jacquline Morrison, Sehwanda Morrison Melton (Jerome), two step-daughters, Shinice and Kimayo McNeil; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Public viewing will begin on Thursday from 12 noon until 5:00 p.m. at Serenity Funeral Home, 1024 Homeland Avenue, Greensboro, NC.

A celebration of life will be held 12 noon, Friday, August 21, 2020 at St. James Baptist Church, 536 W. Florida Street, Greensboro, NC.  The family visitation will begin at 11:30 a.m.  Reverend Dr. Jerome Lee, Jr., will deliver the eulogy.

Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Cemetery, 2716 McConnell Road, Greensboro, NC.
