GREENSBORO – On the morning of Saturday, July 4, Deidrick Ra’Sheed Carter transitioned from earthly life to his heavenly home.  As a testament to the awesome father that he was, he spent the last few moments of his life taking care of his sons.

Deidrick was born September 26, 1993 in High Point, NC to Nickie Nicole Carter and Mustafa Ameer Lawson.  He found a second father in Wallace “Fred” Baxter (India) and a best friend in his younger sister, Ke’hania Baxter.  He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Mary Lawson.  Precious memories remain with his parents and sister, sons Kaiden Cox, Jaceion Breeden, Cameron Breeden, Jeremiah Gause and Dennis Carter; grandparents Geniece Crawford and Johnny McAllister, Yusuf Lawson (Patricia), Curtis “Pete” Alford; brothers Khalil Lawson and Shaqeel Lawson; aunts Tycolya Sligh (Jelani) and Maryum Lawson; uncles Dwayne Crawford (Deanne), Ken Lawson, Yusuf Lawson and Khalid Najee; step-sister Christie Taylor (Darryl); step-brothers Miguel Baxter (Jill) and Marcus Baxter; a host of other cherished relatives and friends that he continually reminded of his love.

As a child, Deidrick enjoyed playing soccer and flag football.  He continued playing football throughout his time at Northeast Guilford High School.  He was a huge fan of the New England Patriots; Tom Brady and Kobe Bryant were his favorite athletes.  Deidrick was passionate about all genres of music and had begun learning to play guitar.  His talents allowed him to write lyrics and produce beats for friends.  Full of excitement, he would share everything new he accomplished with his mother whom he adored.  He loved video games and treasured the time it afforded him to connect with friends and family.

In his early life, Deidrick established a close connection with God.  As a young father he continued to seek the Lord, carefully considering his mother’s guidance "you need the Lord to help you with your children" (Proverbs 22:6).

Deidrick left a lasting impression in the hearts and minds of many.  He is often celebrated for encouraging friends to live out their dreams while remaining on the right path.  He is remembered for his tender heart, unwavering loyalty and smile that could light up a room.  His presence will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

A public viewing will begin on Friday from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Serenity Funeral Home, 1024 Homeland Avenue, Greensboro, NC.

A celebration of life will be held 12 noon Saturday, July 11, 2020 at Calvary Christian Center, 369 Air Harbor Road, Greensboro, NC.  The family visitation will begin at 11:30 a.m.  Pastor Vince P. Hairston will deliver the eulogy.

Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3901 Forest Lawn Drive, Greensboro, NC.
