GREENSBORO – Melanie Maria Hunt, 45, passed away June 1, 2019 at Beacon Place.

She was born in Englewood, NJ on February 21, 1974 to the late Eugene Upshaw, Sr., and the late Geraldine Harper Upshaw.

After graduating from high school, she attended college for 2 years before enlisting in the United States Navy.

For many years, she was an Associate Support Department Supervisor at Home Depot.

She attended Bethel AME Church and had a love for Golf.

She was married to Pastor Christopher William Hunt who preceded her in death.

Survivors include son, Christopher William Hunt, II; sister, Alzenia Price; brothers, Eugene Upshaw, Jr., Eric Upshaw, Sr., and Phillip Upshaw; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2019 at Greater New Life Church, Inc., 1315 W. Montgomery Road, Tuskegee AL.  The family visitation will begin at 10:15 a.m.  Pastor George and Elizabeth Clausell will preside and interment will follow in Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church cemetery, 2777 County Road 81, Tuskegee, AL.

The family will also receive friends on Thursday, June 6, 2019 from 6 until 7 p.m. at Serenity Funeral Home & Cremations, 1024 Homeland Avenue, Greensboro, NC.

McKenzie’s Funeral Home, Tuskegee AL and Serenity Funeral Home & Cremations, Greensboro is assisting the family.

I am so sorry to hear about Melanie. Although I haven't seen her since we lived across the street from each other in the 80s, I do have fond memories of her and her family. I'm praying for family during this difficult time.

Melanie’s family was not only my parents neighbor for several decades, but she was my childhood friend. I have only fond memories of her. Wishing Her family peace and strength during this trying time. Rest In Peace my childhood friend, Melanie Upshaw Hunt!
